An English operation sheet is also included inside the game package which lists the controls and Dual Shock button commands.
NCS Game Synopsis «©NCSX» NCS didn't think the original Siren game needed an encore but Sony disagrees. They've revamped the game for the Playstation 3 with highly polished visuals, Dual Shock 3 support, and the same scary storyline that shook PS2 gamers when Siren first shipped in 2003. Players take a trip to a forlorn village named Hanuda which has been afflicted by red water that turns the living into grotesque and murderous creatures known as "Shibito." Although Siren may be classified as a survival game in a horror setting, the burden of survival doesn't rest on a single protagonist. A whole cast of characters serve to move the narrative along and engage the Shibito in loathsome activities. Siren is relatively import friendly - the voice acting is in English and the archives from the film crew are also marked with English text. Note however that the subtitles are in Japanese.
NCS Original Synopsis from 2003 «©NCSX» A curious high school student with a penchant for the supernatural hears about a village named Hanuda where mystical happenings occur. Since he's interested in the occult, its only natural for him to head over there and experience Hanuda for himself. When he arrives at the village, he hears strange sounds and watches as dark figures perform. Before he can head for the hills, a siren rings in his head which jackhammers pain throughout his frame and the adventure begins...
A Siren has invaded the village of Hanuda and poisoned the water. Denizens who haplessly quaff the water change into shibito or undead. The Shibito are a step above the shuffling zombies of games past; they retain their human memories and skills which make them particularly lethal especially when they wield weapons and attack with skill. Adding to their repertoire, the shibito won't die and rise again after being put down.
The player will eventually be able to control 10 characters in Hanuda and switch between them in a concerted effort to stop the power of the Siren and restore the village. The poisoned water is a curse but it also gifts drinkers with the ability to look through the eyes of shibito in the vicinity with a power called Sightjack. Viewing the action from a different vantage point helps to assess situations and avoid possible death.
NCS Short Synopsis from 2003 «©NCSX» Sony tries another round in the horror-adventure genre with Siren, where the action is viewed from behind the different characters as they explore darkly lit environments and roams inside spooky rooms. A flashlight helps illuminate small portions of a room but not enough to show everything inside. Lurking horrors may be hiding such as switchblade wielding miscreants with blood dripping eyes and bumbling shibito who attack from the shadows at a moment's notice... During travels, other characters may be encountered and cut scenes intersperse through the action to relay the story. Ghastly sights in the game include shuffling zombies who roam the countryside, bloodied victims and detached heads. The lack of an overhead map adds to the feeling of dread and trepidation in the game.
