NCS Product Synopsis
Update: November 17, 2006
«©NCSX» In 1974, Erno Rubik invented the contraption that would eventually become known as the Rubik's Cube. The toy consisted of twenty-seven miniature cubes which made up the Cube in a 3x3x3 array. Although few players would ever solve the puzzle with its 43,252,003,274,489,856,000 possible combinations, the Rubik's Cube went on to sell a hundred million units to a worldwide audience in the early 80's.
In the ensuing decades, the Rubik's Cube craze has faded although it still sells roughly half a million units per annum. To recapture some of that old time magic, Banpresto releases a Rubik's cushion which measures 30cm square or 11.81" by 11.81" for us yanks. Purchase three cushions and create a Cube worthy of any Rubik fanatic's living room. Please note that due to the lofty pricing schemes of Japanese products, the cushions are sold separately and NCS is forced (repeat: forced) to sell each single cushion at US$25. To create a true Rubik's cushion set, you'll have to purchase 3 slices to complete a "cube" to sit on or just stare at.
When NCS removed a few of the cushions from the shipping containers this morning, we noticed a slight acrid "new cushion" scent. We wouldn't use the cushions as pillows since they're not fluffy enough but they serve nicely as seat cushions since they're flattish.
