NCS Product Synopsis
Update: June 23, 2010
«©NCSX» Hatsune Miku is a merchandising superstar who started her career representing a piece of software called Vocaloid2 from Yamaha. The Vocaloid software gives amateur musicians the tools to compose songs that are sung by a computerized voice. In the case of Miku, a voice actress named Saki Fujita provides her high-pitched and highly ebullient vocals. From relatively humble beginnings, Miku went on to inspire manga episodes, promotions, and numerous toy figures that have sold very well and probably better than their makers anticipated. In Project Diva, Miku makes her debut as a video-game heroine of some renown.
Hatsune Miku Project Diva isn't a 2D fighting game as we had hoped nor is it a shooter. Project Diva is a rhythm action game where the PSP's face buttons are tapped in time to the flying cues on screen so Miku sings, dances, and swirls on stage like a generic J-Pop idol. A diva, if you will. In addition to the rhythm action, there's also a dress-up feature where Miku can be adorned in 39 different costumes including the Space Channel 5 Ulala costume, devil girl cosplay, cat girl (with paws), and a pirate outfit where she wears knee-high boots and a pirate hat. There's also a decoration mode where Miku's room is designed with furniture and other touches per your preference. The room is viewed from an 3/4 overhead perspective so that the entire space is shown at once. The limited edition of the Project Diva re-release includes a Miku Petit-Nendoroid toy which is the same as the bonus toy given away last year.
As is the case with most popular games in Japan, Project Diva is being re-released under the "Best" series of games at a lower price point to draw in fans who missed out on the first printing. In an unusual move however, Sega is re-releasing the game in a so-called limited edition bundle which includes the Nendoroid-Petit Miku Hatsune figure that was given away with early preorders in the original printing.
