NCS Product Synopsis
Update: December 4, 2006
«©NCSX» Trek to an uninhabited island with your girlfriend and encounter unexpected creatures of the wretched sort. Instead of shuffling zombies however, large groups of insects appear from the darkness. When your girlfriend turns up missing, take hold of a flashlight ala Siren and enter a dark forest in a bid to reunite with her. When running around the wilderness, the flashlight casts a wide arc of light that illuminates a sizable area of the game world but leaves enough darkness to make things spooky. Along the way, learn the secrets of the island and savagely beat down hundreds upon hundreds of insect victims. With the Wii Remote, sticks may be used as swinging weapons and stones may be thrown to do projectile damage. Over 20 makeshift weapons may be utilized in the game to attack the crowds of insects.

When battling cricket-like creatures, they'll blow out large amount of blood when struck and their ghastly long legs curl up when killed. Spiny caterpillars undulate towards the protagonist in a slow squirm of impending danger. Caterpillars attack by rolling themselves like logs at the player so that their spikes do the damage. Hurl projectiles at them to hear them scream and give up the ghost. The insects move realistically and skitter, hop, crawl, and scamper around the landscape to give squeamish players the heebie jeebies.

NCS Game Notes
» The hero may perform a forward tumble to avoid insects but when they latch onto him en masse for a killer bite, shake the Wii Remote left and right to throw them off. Some beetles swarm the player's body in a skin-crawlingly realistic way.

» A local area map on the lower-right corner of the screen keeps track of the player's whereabouts while a health gauge on the upper right corner tracks vitality.

» During the course of the adventure, cut scenes occasionally pop up to show action sequences as a prelude to major battles. Although the blood flows freely, some insects spill red blood while others unleash a ocher-flavored liquid that bursts forth from their bashed bodies.

» When the praying mantis attacks, it can hook both arms around the protagonist's shoulders and attack with its maw. It'll also flail its arms to attack when approaching the player. The mantis makes a highly annoying tittering screech but hack away at its body and it'll eventually fall over on its side, let loose a piercing scream, and die.

» The character models and visuals in Necro-Nesia are throwbacks from the previous generation but that's okay. Hudson eschews zombies and other undead and allows insects to invade the survival horror genre.

Japanese Region Alert
