«©NCSX»Originally released for the PS2 in the autumn of 2008 and then ported over to the PSP last summer, Idea Factory rehashes Hakuoukionce again for the Nintendo DS. The game is based on the Hakuouki Shinsengumi Kitan animated serial which features a cast of chiseled lads who all sport healthy heads of feathery hair. The boys are all noticeably feminine in terms of facial features, sleek, lanky, and some are even brooding.
The protagonist in the game is a physician's daughter in Edo-era Japan. One day, the doctor goes to Kyoto on an assignment for the Shogunate but seemingly disappears. The heroine resolves to go into Kyoto herself to search for her father and in the interim, meet a bunch of boys who'll help her and potentially fall in love with her. The Nintendo DS conversion of the game features voice acting and a 500-question quiz game which is all about the Hakuouki game. The limited edition includes the following bonus items which are packaged with the game card in a cardboard container:
