NCS Product Synopsis
Update: October 20, 2005

«©NCSX» Sony's latest puzzle game features a mobile character who runs around a playfield and creates triangle shapes by linking light lines from post to post. Once the triangle is created, it may be swung by one of the posts to knock into other triangle to blink it from the screen. Three characters may be used as follows: A lad named Axcel, a lass named Winkle, and a big Panda dubbed D-D who has the words "King of Panda" printed on its prodigious belly.

Before the action begins on each stage, the camera may be swiveled around the playfield to get a comprehensive view of the puzzle at hand. Press "O" and the action begins. Axcel does not have to press any buttons when pulling lines out of spherical posts. Just run next to them and wait for one to jiggle and then run to the next post to link lines. The goal is to create triangles between three posts and then knock the triangles into other triangles.

To get a feel for the game, three tutorials are available as follows:

* Tutorial 1 - Character moves and twists triangles by grabbing a post and swinging it against other triangles. The aim of the game is to swing triangles until they contact adjacent triangles upon which time they disappear from the screen. Once completed, mosey on to the exit.

* Tutorial 2 - On a long walkway, grab a point and then extend a light line from it to connect to other points to make triangle shapes. Triangles cannot criss-cross or they disappear.

* Tutorial 3 - Create triangles by linking moving posts.

There's also a Drill Mode where one may try out 100 challenging puzzles which incorporate the elements of the game. As one gets further into the game, new elements are introduced such as black spheres which are immobile and cannot used as pivot points. The blue spheres may serve as pivot points to fling triangles against other triangles.

The first level of the regular Mawaza game involves twisting triangles so that they knock into each other and disappear from the screen. Each triangle has blue sphere points which mean they can be moved.

The second level introduces the concept of creating triangles by linking lines from points of blue spheres.

The third and fourth levels add the concept of chaining triangle smashes together when a pivoting triangle notes into multiple triangles with one swerve motion.

The game progressively adds layers of elements and tricks for added difficulty and interactive possibilities. Moving blue spheres are introduced which allows for mobile triangles which add a twist to the reach of some pivoting triangles and other interesting possibilities.
