NCS Game Notes & Spoilers
* In the intro to the game, an animation starts which begins with the characters from the original game in front of a television, Laharl and Flon peer into the television and main character Adel, Rosalinde, and Prinnies perform in fast paced routines where they fight, stand around, and even dance. Near the beginning of the intro, an archer girl shoots an arrow through a gang of butterflies. Rosalinde carries a very petite gun which she shoots into the screen and the intro ends with Adel and Rosalinde grasping hands - camera pans up to the sky and the main cast members appear in a group photo.

* At the title screen, the three options are : NEW GAME / LOAD GAME / OPTION.

* Upon starting a new game, a voice over starts explaining the situation in Disgaea 2 with the moon and a spooky backdrop in the background. Wailing music plays in the background and the narrator explains the curse that was set off by Xenon. As the game opens, a house appears and the camera pans in on Adel who is in front of massive cauldron that's situated outdoors. He's speaking to his mother who sports a third eye above her regular 2 eyes - which makes three red eyes. She's dressed in a conservative matronly outfit and has been obviously affected by Xenon's curse. She turns to face the cauldron and three of her children pop their heads out in exasperated fashion. They address her as Mama and cry out that they shouldn't be in the cauldron but she walks over and smashes them down to the bottom of the pot. Mama plays a tune on a flute and starts manifesting swirling purple / gold radiation from her body - she's calling Xenon and strange blue sigil rings glow out and spin above the cauldron in intermittent expanding rings. The contents begin to boil, lightning spews outwards, and an explosion blows out all three children out while grey smoke puffs out from the cauldron. There's a rumble and a purplish glow expands... and expands... and shoots out rays until a blonde princess drifts down from the sky. She opens her eyes and is taken aback by her predicament as she's been teleported to Adel's world. After introductions to the family and the new girl named Rosalinde, daughter of Xenon, everyone is standing around near the cauldron again and a few people from the town are at the site and standing around.

* After that, Adel may move around and speak to mama, family, friends, and other townfolk. Two of his siblings Hanako and Taro are also standing near the house. The controls:

L-Analog / Movement
R1-Trigger / Swivel camera clockwise
L1-Trigger / Rotate camera counter-clockwise
L2-Trigger / Focus in/out
X-Button / Jump
O-Button / Speak to person you're facing
Triangle / Menu for options and preferences menu

* Once Adel is under your control, his party consists of three volunteers who stand outside his house and Rosalinde. Their stats may be checked out by pressing the TRIANGLE button and then pressing O on the second option. Adel has 25 HP while the demon girl rocks 36 HP. The three helpers have HP that range from 11 to 24.

* To save your progress, press TRIANGLE and move your cursor to the bottom option. To quit to title screen, select the next-to-the-last option.

* The dialogue in the game is spoken by voice actors in addition to being shown on screen below portraits of the characters.

* In an early battle in the game, the party encounters three Prinnies that appear innocuous enough... until one of them pulls out two sabers from its pouch. When that doesn't put a scare into the princess, who turns her back on them, the penguin puts the sabers back and pulls out a massive bomb and creeps behind her. Leaping up and smashing it down, it blows up on the princess. None the worse for wear, she is however enraged and the penguins twirl on their tiptoes and line up in a row. After some more twirling, a practice battle + tutorial begins.

* At the outset of battle, a short tutorial teaches the ways of turn-based battle in the game and the various menu functions that are available. An ornate blue arrow serves as the targeting cursor in the game which allows the player to control where warriors go and their attacks. When a move is selected, the camera closes in tight on the encounter to observe the action and then pulls back out once the attack is completed. A combination attack is shown where princess stands behind Adel and the two perform a sequence attack that ends with princess shooting the target with her pistol. The enemy may also perform combination attacks and the three penguins pull off a wicked three pronged attack that involves fire, bombs, and leaping action which is enough to kill Adel off. After the demonstration, the actual battle starts where the penguins don't prove to be much of a challenge although they do team up to perform combo attacks.

* After a battle is over, bonus points from the victory are tallied. The next demonstration shows how Adel and Rosalinde may perform collaborative attacks where she stands on his hands and he tosses her to traverse distances that she might otherwise not be able to travel in less than 2 turns. This is useful to close the distance quickly when necessary. When you're given control of this practice stage, toss the Princess as you were shown and then have the Princess pick up the penguin that's adjacent to her. Turn to face the left and toss the penguin and it'll explode and take out the nearby penguin as well. The other three characters in your party may be then moved out and they can perform the same throwing trick to destroy the last penguin.
