NCS Product Description
Update: January 23, 2003
«©NCSX» As the driving rain pelts down upon you, the dark and foreboding building in the distance looks like a good place to weather out the elements. Tired and in need of some R&R, you enter "Gregory House" and immediately hear maniacal laughter. Suddenly unsure of your life expectancy, you turn to exit the premises but a hand rests upon your shoulder. A grotesquely shaped mouse named Gregory salutes you and bids you welcome into his humble hotel. Leading you to your room, you hear strange sounds, wails and creaks which echo through the hallways and assail your ears. Already nervous and uncomfortable, you attempt to leave once more but Gregory explains that guests check in but they rarely check out...
Charged with collecting the souls of previous guests who have expired in the hotel, you work against other denizens who would deny you that act of closure. There's Catherine, the pink lizard nurse who was once a good reptile but now trudges through Gregory House with a blood sucking syringe which she pokes into hapless roamers. Then we have Devil Dog whose appearance may be deceiving. Appearing as a beautiful angel in one form, Devil Dog will stab you with his pitchfork once he gains your trust and banish you to hell. Cactus Gunman challenges Gregory House inhabitants to gunfights and is yet one more character amonst many other weird and wacky personalities that haunt the halls of Gregory House. All these ruffians and spooky creatures conspire to drive the player to the brink of madness. Or something like that.
Gregory Horror Show is played in a 3-D environment with stylized polygon graphics made up of rudimentary blocks, cylinders and other basic shapes. Capcom gives every character in the game a good range of emotional expressions such as fear, anger or puzzlement. The soul saving goal of the game is simple enough to comprehend but the various obstacles, puzzle solving and outsmarting of the many trolls, imps, and miscreants in the game make for an involved action adventure.
Naomi Iwata provides the character designs for Capcom's 3-D action-adventure which is based on a popular television show in Japan.
