«©NCSX» Dastardly wolves are after mama's piglets and that sort of behavior won't be tolerated. By using balloons to float down and then up against mama's tree bastion, the wolves hope to snatch enough piglets for a veritable feast. To counter the threat of piglet kidnapping shenanigans, mama rides a little lift and wields a bow and arrow to shoot the balloons and thus drop the wolves to their much deserved deaths. Along with the balloon-piercing arrows, beefy hunks of meat appear intermittently which mama may use to crush entire arcs of wolves as they waft their way through the air.
Pooyan features two varieties of shooting challenge and two mini-games which allow mama to score bonus points. In the first level, wolves descend from the top of a platform to reach the ground safely and climb up mama's tree fortress. To stop their assault, shoot the balloons that keep the wolves aloft so that they plummet onto the forest floor. The floaters wield a little shield which blocks mama's shots. In the second level, the wolves take things personally when they conspire to rise up on balloons to a platform in order to push a rock on top of mama. To stop their heinous plans, shoot them before enough of them reach the top and have enough wolf-power to shove the rock on top of our courageous heroine.
NCS Game Notes
» The German word for piglet is pooyan. In Germany, the game was known as "Wolf und Schwein." The word "schwein" is a derogatory term that is used to refer to bastards and swine but is normally not used in everyday conversation unless the speaker wants a heaping of bodily harm.
